Review from Barbara Rhoades
Earth tones and applique are the basics of this book.  Of the 13 projects in it, seven have applique as a main component.  The other six are pieced quilts.  Of those six, two have applique on the borders which, in my humble opinion, could be created without the applique or you might have a wonderful piece of printed fabric that the pattern would add the applique look.
There are enough patterns in this book to satisfy either type of quilter - applique or piecing and you might just want to try the one you don't do as a habit.  Each project starts out with a paragraph about it.  The material and cutting lists are straight forward and there is a box with a hint in it between these lists.
The instructions are easy to follow and the graphics help make sure you are on the right path.  A color photo with the finished quilt and block size and who created and quilted the quilts is also listed.
Templates, when needed, are included at full size which means you don't have to run out to get copies of them.  The quilting of the item is left up to your desired method and pattern.  The eight page basics section is at the back of the book just before the page of a short bio on the author.
Lots of wonderful patterns will keep you busy and your interest high especially if earth tones are you heart's desire.
