This is from one of our students:  I just returned from the beginners applique class with Karen. I told her that I enjoyed it very much, but I wanted to reiterate my appreciation with you. She was professional, but warm and had many good tips to pass along to us. The way the class was structured was excellent, especially the pre-class preparation so we were ready to start when we got there. The general set up was great with a place for us to store our lunch and with drinks and "goodies" provided. Excellent experience overall. I look forward to more classes. I definitely will sign up for more applique. I would love to have the cut away class rescheduled. Thank you, Susan

Another comment from one of our customers:  Attended my first "First Saturday Breakfast Club" and it was marvelous. Food was great, company was welcoming (I came by myself), new products were fun and informational, show and tell was fabulous, and the video was truly inspirational. Signed up for next month. Can't wait! Thank you so much for a wonderful time.

A comment from one of our Teachers, JEANNE LEX:  “Inspiring others towards happiness brings you happiness.” That's how I feel about teaching quilting.

Detailed Needle Felted Art -Sat.Jan 27, 2018, 10am-4pm
Add to Design Board
Sku #: c-159978
click here to see a few Student samples....Well Done!!
During this workshop you will needle felt a detailed image of your choice for an 8 x 10 work of art and use printed cotton fabric for the background. This form of needle felted art opens a whole world of possibility in needle felting so simply, with the thousands of cotton prints that can turn your animal or object into something gorgeous and different. Students will pick their own focal point subject (such as a bunny, a parrot, a detailed flower blossom...) so we will learn from the other students as well as from our own project. We'll start the workshop by browsing the fabrics in the shop as a group. Learning together which patterns and colors make a subject pop, which make the subject flop. After picking your background cottons, we'll adjourn to the classroom and needle felt the focal point onto wool. Then it will be easily appliqued to the cotton background. The stitching of the needle felted focal point to the cotton is not technical or challenging, don't worry about that if you aren't a stitcher! You'll be able to do it, the wooly needle felted edges make it very easy to hide basic stitches! At the end of the day, you'll have a matted work of art ready for framing. This workshop is for people who have some needle felting experience and would like to learn detail techniques. Please read the supply list carefully and bring the required items. Please bring your lunch, drinks and dessert will be provided. The cotton background fabric you choose must be purchased separately.

Click here to see a class member completed rugs!!
An 1860's Civil War era craft...the popularity of Traditional Rug Hooking is seeing the largest resurgence since the 1940's and is growing nationwide. Using strips of pre-cut wool fabric, a cotton monks cloth foundation and a hook that looks much like a crochet hook with a wooden handle, Diane will teach the basic hooking methods. She will teach students to learn the "rhythm" of rug hooking while learning "loop to loop" and "row to row" hooking, diagonal hooking, turning a squared corner, and hooking points. You will also be given basic instructional handouts in a nifty binder.

The kit chosen for our beginners is called: Star "Hit or Miss" Rug (16" x 21"). It may not be a design of your first choice; however...it is definitely one that will teach you all the basics that will allow you to tackle most any pattern after that! Each kit comes complete with the pre-drawn design on the monk's cloth, pre-cut strips of hand-dyed wool, your rug hook, finishing tape & photo. A 12" No slip Morgan hoop is suggested for this class. You will receive a 10% discount on the hoop and any extra supplies purchased for this class. Click HERE to go to the 12" Morgan No-slip hoop.
